Spring Lancer Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF)
Lancer Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF) is an emergency fund built with care and compassion. The judgment-free services offered through this program are available to all CLC students.
LEAF can assist with a variety of emergency financial needs, including but not limited to: rent, utilities, transportation, medical costs, childcare, and groceries. LEAF applicants can only be CLC students (not staff or faculty) and the student MUST:
- Be currently enrolled in at least one academic course during the semester for which they are submitting an application.
- Have no hold on their account related to Code of Conduct.
- If eligible, submit either a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an Illinois Alternative Application.
- Provide documentation to demonstrate financial hardship.
- Must demonstrate that all other available financial resources (such as loans, scholarships, and student aid) have been used, or those resources must be formally determined to be insufficient or unavailable.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
- Have no outstanding financial aid documents, i.e., verification, SAP, high school diploma, etc.
After submitting an application, we suggest some students may be required to meet with CLC’s Community Resource Coordinator (CRC) to review their application and supporting documentation. Once the LEAF application is received, those students will then receive an email invitation to schedule the required meeting.
Depending on the urgency of the request, students will receive a decision 3 – 5 business days after meeting with the CRC. However, it could take up to 10 business days to receive funds.
Please note: LEAF does not provide students assistance with current or upcoming tuition costs or other bills owed to the college. Visit CLC’s Financial Aid page to explore available financial aid options.
